The wait of Jessica Iskandar & Vincent Verhaag for nine months finally paid off. Jessica Iskandar gave birth to a baby boy naturally at Pondok Indah Hospital (RSPI) in South Jakarta on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
Vincent Verhaag tells the process before the woman affectionately called Jedar enters the delivery room and finally gives birth to her little hero.
"On the night of the 6th, it turned into the 7th, but the decision to go to RSPI was on the 7th at 2 am (early morning) from home," Vincent said at RSPI, South Jakarta, on Monday (9/5).
"At 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock it felt like the water broke, but Jedar didn't realize it. At 1:30, she said, 'Vin, it seems like my water broke.' When I looked, the water was flowing," Vincent added.
Because he didn't have any experience, Vincent first surfed on social media to find out the signs of a woman giving birth. After feeling that all the signs were present in Jedar, they immediately rushed to the hospital.
"I didn't know, so I googled and checked, 'Oh, this is the water breaking.' From there, we immediately stood up and left. From home at 2 o'clock to RSPI at 2:30, we went straight to the delivery room and were greeted by the midwife and the RSPI team," said Vincent.
When in the delivery room, Vincent admitted feeling tense. Understandably, this is his first experience of having a child and accompanying his wife during the childbirth process.
"I'm not worried, but more nervous because during the check-ups, there was news about the umbilical cord being wrapped around, but when it was checked again and again until the due date, there was nothing wrong. The baby is healthy, and the baby is ready to come out, so I feel calm," explained Vincent.
"Especially when entering the delivery room, this is my first time, so I was a bit nervous, but when welcomed by RSPI (hospital), I immediately felt like I was by her side, and I became calm. Okay, it's in good hands, I'm good," added Vincent.
Vincent and Jedar are grateful, the childbirth process went smoothly until finally the baby was born into the world healthy, without any deficiencies.
"Healthy, breastfeeding is also smooth. And the baby is calm on its own. It only cries when it needs to urinate or defecate, or when it wants milk," Jedar concluded.
The happiness is evident from the couple who got married on October 22, 2021.
During the press conference, they were not hesitant to show romantic interactions to the media.
