Vincent Verhaag's Total Commitment in the Film 'EMMY', Ready to Shave His Beard - Helping Other Cast Members in Dutch

"Of course. For the sake of the story and the point of view of the victims, yes, because in the film world, we must be willing to sacrifice our actual looks," said Vincent Verhaag when met in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, on Friday (27/03/2026).

This appearance research process is conducted so that the audience gets an accurate picture of the character. Vincent emphasizes that as an actor, physical changes are part of the job responsibilities that must be undertaken professionally for the sake of the story.

"Oh yes, there is. The important thing is that we need to talk about the beard and mustache later. We will check if yes, how it looks. Later we will also research with Raymond Westerling about his appearance first, we will try to match it," he said.

In addition to physical preparation, Vincent feels very helped by his background in mastering the Dutch language. This means he does not require special assistance or coaching for the dialogues in the film. He feels quite relaxed in delving into the script because language barriers have been resolved from the beginning.

"Ehhh not really because maybe from the script it's also in Dutch, I can also speak Dutch so it’s not too much or that I need coaching. So you could say it's quite ehhh relaxed," said this father of two.

His proficiency in Dutch is not only used for himself. On the shooting location, Vincent often helps his fellow cast members who struggle with pronunciation or the Dutch dialect. For him, teamwork is very important to ensure the quality of this film is maximized.

"So there’s also Uncle Hans, he’s ehhh his senior. So he’s the one who changed the script and translated it. But if on set, if anyone wants to ask about the dialogue or how the pronunciation goes, I can help," concluded Vincent Verhaag.
