Want to Raise Awareness of the Community to Stop Harassment and Violence Against Women, Nova Eliza Shows a Short Film Titled 'Beautiful'

Nova Eliza also commemorates the campaign to stop violence against women by screening a short film she made titled 'Beautiful'. This film, directed by her, stars Jihan Husein, Leony (Trio Kwek Kwek), Teuku Zacky, Emmie Lamu, Ayu Dyah Pasha, Ari Tulang, and Iang Darmawan.

On this occasion, the short film 'Beautiful' is premiered.

"Today we are commemorating the campaign to stop violence against women and also celebrating Mother's Day. Coincidentally, we made a short film to raise awareness of sexual harassment. We gather here and our film is premiered," said Nova Eliza when met in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Sunday night, December 10th.

Nova Eliza also explained that her short film was inspired by a story of harassment experienced by a fellow artist. Therefore, she said that similar things could happen to anyone without exception.

"It was inspired by one of the actors who had actually experienced it. But I can't mention their name for privacy reasons," she said.

"In reality, harassment that occurs in Indonesia is indeed high, and it is possible for the entertainment industry to also become victims. Harassment can be different, it can also be verbal jokes on set that make us uncomfortable, sometimes there are also those who don't understand, so education is needed," she continued.

2. Family Plays an Important Role

In addition, Nova Eliza emphasizes that prevention of violence and harassment against women should be done by those closest to them first. Therefore, Nova Eliza hopes that the film Cantik can educate the public.

This is really important considering that violence and harassment against women will have long-term negative effects on the individuals who experience it.

"What we want is for this short film to educate and be taken on a roadshow to schools and universities in Indonesia. It's better to start in Indonesia because based on data, it still happens frequently and mostly among teenagers. We want this awareness to start in Indonesia as a preventive measure," she concluded.
