"It was really difficult at that time, Mel, I had a lot of debt. Up to more than Rp 100 million. Let alone Rp 100 million, I didn't even have Rp 100,000," said Pinkan Mambo, as quoted from Melaney Ricardo's Youtube channel (09/09).
Let alone to pay off hundreds of millions of debt, Pinkan Mambo also admitted that she didn't have 5 thousand Rupiah in her wallet at that time. While sobbing, she remembered how difficult the economic conditions were at that time.
"I don't know where to find that 20 thousand Rupiah, Mel. Can you imagine? If the debt collector says I have to pay 20 million Rupiah every week, I don't even know where to find 5 thousand Rupiah," she explained.
According to Pinkan, because she was used to easily earning money from singing, she couldn't think of finding another way. Until finally, she was able to sell food and slowly recover.
"I'm used to earning money from singing, since I was little like that. So when I'm not singing, I can't think of ways to earn money again, let alone sell like now," she concluded.
