Windah Basudara Faces Copyright Issue While Streaming Upin Ipin Game, Les' Copaque Responds

Kapanlagi.com - The name Windah Basudara is back in the spotlight after he faced a copyright claim while live streaming the Upin Ipin Universe game on YouTube. Ironically, despite purchasing the game for Rp650 thousand, all monetization results from the video were redirected to Les’ Copaque Production.

The issue began when Windah played the game during a live streaming session on Thursday (17/7). Shortly after, he received a copyright violation. Windah believes that Les’ Copaque Production does not support streamers.

"It's not about the AdSense, guys. It's not about the AdSense. I mean, crazy, they don't even support the streamers. Do they want to act like they need money that badly or what?" he expressed.

1. Because of Music

The game developer, Les’ Copaque Production, finally spoke out in a 12 minute 30 second video. They acknowledged that the copyright claim came from the background music of the game, which they had indeed registered with a music label.

This process automatically causes YouTube's system to make claims against anyone using that audio without additional licensing, including streamers like Windah.

"So I am directing this to Brother Windah Basudara directly. I understand that when we play games, as content creators, we do not get monetized, because Les' Copaque itself is a content creator. We are using the music that is in the Upin Ipin cartoon in this game that has been reprocessed. So automatically, there is copyright," explained Nur Naquyah, Creative Content Director of Les' Copaque Production.

2. Currently Resolving Issues

"So don't be afraid, we are working on this. And we have contacted Brother Windah personally to resolve this issue, because at the same time Les' Copaque also has a music publisher. So automatically those streaming platforms will automatically claim monetization in the end. But that doesn't mean we are not resolving this issue, we are working on it together with those streamers," he added.

Not only about copyright, Les’ Copaque also sparked controversy for using clips of Windah's reactions and other streamers in game promotional materials, without permission or compensation. The video was even posted on their official channel.

3. As Appreciation

In response to the criticism, Les’ Copaque issued a public apology and explained that the use of Windah's clips was purely as a form of appreciation.

"And it is true that we took your clips, because on the other hand, we are promoting each other. So we want to appreciate the streamers who play this game. Because when we saw that, we really liked it. So we are using these clips to promote together," explained Nur Naquyah.

They also emphasized that copyright claims were not made manually, but rather automatically generated by the system. To prevent similar issues, they advised creators to turn off in-game music during live streaming while waiting for the streamer mode feature in the next update.
