Yusuf Mahardika Observes in the Interior of Kalimantan to Become a Dayak Youth, Ten Days Living Without Signal

Before the shooting process began, Yusuf was intentionally sent to the interior of Kalimantan first. This was so he could delve deeper into the character of Silas that was entrusted to him.

"I was sent there first for observation. So I really lived in the interior of Kalimantan for almost ten days. Living without signal, unable to contact anyone, participating with the locals in farming activities," said Yusuf when met at Metropole XXI, Pegangsaan area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (31/7/2034).

1. Hanging Out with Dayak Youth

During his observation in the interior of Kalimantan, Yusuf Mahardika spent a lot of time hanging out with Dayak youth. Because of this, he acquired many new vocabulary and accents.

"Adjustment (with the local people) has to be quick because this is work after all. I got to hang out with the kids there, picking up new words and accents," said the 24-year-old actor.

2. Body Tattooed

For the role of Salis, Yusuf Mahardika had to appear as a true Dayak youth. During the shooting process, his body was adorned with tattoos that have special meanings and he wore piercings.

"I got tattooed in this film. The process took almost six hours to create the tattoo. The tattoo has a meaning, it was researched by the makeup team and the director. So indeed, Dayak people have tattoos like that," said Yusuf.
