Yuyun Sukawati Disappointed Fajar Umbara Only Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison

Kapanlagi.com - Soap opera artist Yuyun Sukawati expressed disappointment over the 2-year prison sentence imposed by the judge on Fajar Umbara, who has been proven guilty of assaulting his biological child, HAW.

Yuyun conveyed her disappointment shortly after hearing the judge's verdict against Fajar Umbara at the Tangerang District Court on Monday afternoon (13/9/2021).

"Honestly, I am very disappointed. If the prosecutor's demand was 4 years and 6 months, let's say it is reduced by 2/3, it would be 3 years. But the honorable judge decided on a 2-year prison sentence and 3 months as a subsidiary punishment," said Yuyun.

Yuyun also assessed that the lower sentence compared to the prosecutor's demand was due to the prosecutor's failure to present aggravating witnesses, such as doctors, the KPAI (Commission for the Protection of Children), and also the report on her child's psychological condition after being a victim of assault.

"My child's psyche has been affected. But why wasn't the result of my child's psychological evaluation read out? This is what I question the prosecutor, whether all the files have been submitted to the honorable judge. The doctor, KPAI, P2 TP2A witnesses were not present. Even though they were willing to testify," Yuyun explained.

1. Seeking Appeal

Feeling unsatisfied with the verdict, Yuyun will try to ask the prosecutor's office to file an appeal against the verdict. According to her, it is considered unfair because the psychological report of her child was not read.

"Because (the verdict) is too low, it is far below 4 years. I feel (this verdict) is unfair for my child. There are many irregularities, I request that the psychological result of my child be read so that it becomes the consideration of Your Honor," said Yuyun.

As previously reported, Fajar Umbara was sentenced to 2 years in prison and fined IDR 100 million, with a substitute of 3 months, for proven guilty of committing assault against HAW.

The verdict is lower than the prosecutor's demand, which asked the Judge to sentence Fajar Umbara to 4 years in prison and a fine of IDR 100 million, with a substitute of 5 months.
