Initially, Evie used the stage name Uce Arifina. She sang with the sinar remaja melayu orchestra in Tasikmalaya. Not only in Tasikmalaya, but Evie also sang in Bandung.

Evie began to be known by national dangdut enthusiasts since her album Dokter Cinta in 1989 exploded in the market. Her name began to be equated with Elvy Sukaesih and Rita Sugiharto.

The songs Dokter Cinta and Cinta Ketok Magic with lively rhythms made those songs quickly liked by dangdut enthusiasts. Evie's appearance was like a woman in the 90s with curly hair. 

In 1994, Evie's next album titled Rembulan Malam exploded in the market. The explosion of this album caused a change in the direction of Evie's music style.

After previously singing many lively dangdut songs, it turns out that Evie's voice character is more suitable for melancholic and romantic dangdut songs. 

Selamat Malam song, Nyanyian Rindu, Aku Rindu Padamu became Evie Tamala's flagship song in the following years. Evie also released a Sundanese pop album in 2001.
