8 Portraits of Nini Carlina's Comeback Through the Religious Single 'Semesta Bersyukur', A Form of Da'wah and Gratitude

"Alhamdulillah, after eight years of hiatus, I am now back to music. I always wanted to return to singing, but the universe did not support it," said Nini Carlina when met in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta, on Friday (14/3/2025).  

The single 'Semesta Bersyukur' was created by Budie Noegroho and released under the Positif Art Music label. This song invites listeners to always be grateful and to live life with sincerity and submission to Him. Nini Carlina felt the creative process flowing so effortlessly, as if this song was indeed her destiny.  

"The process of creating 'Semesta Bersyukur' was very quick and felt so fluid. This became my way to return to the music world while also making this song a means of spreading the message of faith," she stated. 

During her hiatus from the entertainment world, Nini Carlina focused on being a housewife and actively participated in religious study groups. She even tried to become a Quran teacher, but her efforts did not go smoothly as she had not yet found any students.  

"Since the pandemic, I've wanted to spread the message. But giving sermons doesn't seem suitable. From there, I thought maybe my way of spreading the message here is through songs," explained the 48-year-old woman.

Nini Carlina's career journey in the music world is indeed colorful. Since her debut in 1992, she has been known as a singer capable of performing various music genres, from pop, rock, to ethnic. Now, with Semesta Bersyukur, Nini enriches her discography in the religious path that she had previously explored through the single Kekasih Tuhanku (2017).

"Why religious? Because I really want to spread the message through lyrics. I want to share religious knowledge through music," added Nini.

Nini Carlina hopes that the song Semesta Bersyukur can be a turning point in her career. The full support from her husband, who is now the executive producer, along with prayers from family and fans, motivates her to continue moving forward in the music world.
