"At first, I was still in a pop band with my college friends, one day in 2009 I was invited by a friend to sing at an event, and initially, I didn't like dangdut. Eventually, I found it enjoyable and delved into dangdut music, learned, and focused more on dangdut," continued the 35-year-old man.

2. Stay Confident Even When Looked Down Upon

Although his decision to sing dangdut was initially looked down upon by those around him, Ical remained confident in pursuing this genre of music that is original to the Indonesian people. Not only that, he sees that dangdut music can still reach all walks of life without age or social class limitations.

"At first, I was ridiculed by my friends, 'ugh, how low-class, why sing dangdut songs', especially from my bandmates, many of whom looked down on it. The reason I like dangdut is because it is communal, from children to the elderly, everyone enjoys dangdut," he emphasized briefly.
