Being the Runner Up of LIDA 2020, Gunawan Admits to Failing Auditions Twice

Kapanlagi.com - The singer from North Maluku has just finished the Liga Dangdut Indosiar (LIDA) 2020 competition. In this event, the beautiful singer from Cianjur, Meli Nuryani, became the champion, while Gunawan secured the second position. Gunawan admits to being very grateful to become the runner up in the LIDA 2020 event.

"Alhamdulillah, Gunawan is very thankful because this is beyond Gunawan's expectations, beyond Gunawan's initial target when Gunawan came here. So, it's a big surprise, it's like Gunawan went 'crazy to be the second champion'," said Gunawan on Trans TV, South Jakarta, Monday (5/10/2020).

1. Failed Audition Twice in LIDA

Gunawan admitted that participating in LIDA 2020 was not easy. He had to fail several times in order to become the runner-up in the competition.

Previously, Gunawan had participated in the first and second auditions of LIDA, but failed. However, Gunawan did not give up and tried again to audition. As it turned out, Gunawan's hard work paid off. He passed and made it to the top two in LIDA 2020.

"Actually, Gunawan didn't start with LIDA 3 (LIDA 2020) only. Gunawan had participated in LIDA 1, LIDA 2, and then LIDA 3. But, God answered everything in LIDA 3. When participating in LIDA 3, Gunawan didn't expect to reach the top three, three, or two, two," Gunawan said.

"In Gunawan's mind, he was already grateful to be in this top position (runner-up) and to be on TV. But, he didn't expect to reach the top nine. Gunawan's progress was praised by the judges because of the efforts he had made, and he finally achieved the second place," Gunawan continued.

2. Learned Many Lessons

Gunawan gained many lessons and experiences after participating in LIDA 2020, starting from vocal training, stage performance, and so on.

"Many. During LIDA, Gunawan gained a lot. There was a first-time experience, and then the change was very drastic, from Gunawan being chubby to becoming slim, and from his ordinary singing to becoming the runner-up, there were so many," Gunawan concluded.
