Dewi Perssik Lets go of Her Old House to Become a Shelter for Employees Affected by Layoffs

Kapanlagi.com - Dewi Perssik recently moved to her new house in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta. This was not without reason, apparently her old house, which is familiarly called Depe, is used to accommodate restaurant chefs who were laid off due to the pandemic.

When met at her residence in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (20/7), Depe revealed that she not only accommodates the restaurant workers. Angga Wijaya's wife also provides employment for the laid-off chefs.

"I moved here because the house there is used to save (restaurant workers) who were affected by layoffs. So I recruited them, there are several chefs to make OI DWP, that's the name," said Dewi Perssik.

1. Empowering Employees

For now, the owner of Goyang Gergaji empowers 15 chefs who were affected by the pandemic in her old house. These chefs also cook various kinds of food which are then sold at affordable prices. Depe stated that this activity is not for business purposes, but rather to help others.

"The house is for them to live, there are about 15 people there. Here, it's for us. The food sold is only IDR 10,000, but actually it's not for business, it's more about charity," she said.

Dewi Perssik also mentioned that she actually wants to help them by employing the chefs in a business place. However, due to several obstacles, this intention has not been realized yet.

"But yesterday, the condition was like this, so I haven't obtained the permit yet, so I have to be patient. We all feel the impact of the pandemic, the impact of PPKM, my Basecamp is closed, whether we like it or not," she concluded.

2. Dewi Perssik's Social Action

During the recent Eid al-Adha, Dewi Perssik conducted a charity event by distributing sacrificial meat. Due to the current pandemic situation, Depe chose to distribute the meat door to door. "We will distribute it together, door to door. First, I will go to my neighbors in Lebak Bulus, then to several other areas," said Dewi Perssik. Previously, the singer from Jember, East Java, also held a social action by distributing 2,000 basic necessities to people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. "Yesterday, we also distributed 2,000 basic necessities and packed meals in several areas," Depe concluded.
