"We used to be paid Rp 250 million. We were also contracted for five years by the richest regent," said Tessa Mariska when met in the Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (13/7).

"But after that, the singers from talent search shows left and they didn't want to pay us that much anymore," she added.

Still reminiscing about the past, Tessa mentioned that as a Dangdut singer, she was often asked to perform in a sexy manner. Tessa herself once climbed a tower to entertain the audience.

Tessa also remembers that her career started with a name change. The name Tessa Mariska was given by a producer. The name is a combination of her child's name and a typical souvenir from her hometown.

"After that, my name was changed, my child's name is Tasya, Mariska is a markisa fruit, a typical fruit from Medan, so it became Tessa Mariska," she said.
