KPI Chairman Says Saipul Jamil Can Appear on Television to Provide Education on the Dangers of Sexual Predators

Agung Suprio, the chairman of KPI, finally speaks out about the case involving the institution he leads. He appeared on a podcast uploaded on Thursday, (9/9) on Dedy Corbuzier's Youtube channel.

"This glorification is the starting point. As soon as it appears on television, people don't like it. We are in the process of evaluating the broadcasts. At that time, there was a debate between human rights and public decency," said Agung Suprio in response to the glorification of Saipul Jamil.

Furthermore, Agung explains about handling similar cases abroad. According to him, there is a method that can prevent sexual predators from repeating such actions.

"We also look at various references from abroad, so it is indeed limited, even in a certain country, they are given tools so that they do not engage in such behavior," said Agung.

1. Can Appear for Sexual Predator Education

Agung also mentioned that in fact KPI is still trying to accommodate the interests of various layers of society. KPI can allow Saipul Jamil to appear on television in an interview session as a source of education about the dangers of predators.

"This is against ethics, appropriateness, and we 'set aside' human rights temporarily. He (Saipul Jamil) can still appear, not completely banned but in the context of education," said Agung Satrio.

"So for example, if he appears as a predator danger, it can also be presented like that," he continued.

2. Not Completely Banned, But Will Be Re-evaluated

At the end of the podcast, Dedy Corbuzier confirmed again about the conclusion of his conversation with Agung Suprio. There are several important points that have been agreed upon by them, including the condition that Saipul Jamil can appear on television.

"So basically, we also appreciate KPI, you as the chairman of KPI must be tired too. Not banning, but limiting, that's the right words," said Dedy Corbuzier.

"It means, bang Ipul, you can still appear, not banned, but educative. We'll see, it will be evaluated again," concluded Agung Suprio.
