Ona Sutra, Who Recovered from Stroke, Passes Away While Sleeping

Kapanlagi.com - Dangdut singer Ona Sutra passed away at the age of 68 on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at around 12:30 pm WIB. The news of the singer of the song Titip Cintaku passing away was confirmed by Dolly Sutra, the youngest child of the deceased.

"Yes, it's true. He passed away this afternoon around 12:30. He was sleeping, and when his pulse was checked, it was gone," said Dolly when contacted by KapanLagi.com reporter.

The passing of Ona Sutra reportedly shocked his family. Before taking his last breath, Ona Sutra was in good health.

"Dad had recovered from his stroke. He had been able to walk around since moving from Medan to here four months ago. That's why we were shocked," she said.

According to Dolly, there was no special message from Ona Sutra to her family before passing away.

"There was no message from my father because he passed away in his sleep," she said.

Ona Sutra's body was laid in state at her residence in Kampung Utan, Citayam, Depok, West Java and will be buried in the nearby public cemetery today (12/4).

"After Asr prayer, the plan is to bury her in TPU Kampung Utan," said Dolly.

Ona Sutra was a dangdut singer born in Sawit Seberang, Langkat, North Sumatra. As a singer, Ona had a distinctive appearance, wearing dark glasses and having long hair.

She began to be known by the public since releasing the album Terbayang-bayang which was released in August 1990. Since then, her next albums also achieved success, including Asam di Gunung Garam di Laut (1990), Bola (1991), Barcelona (1992), Titip Cintaku (1994), and many more.
