Rowman Ungu Produces Dangdut Singers, Revives Duo Molek and Nabila Sabhi

Kapanlagi.com - Rowman Ungu is now not only known as a drummer for a top band. Quietly, he is also busy being a dangdut music producer at the label Wow Musikindo. His new project is quite significant: not only reviving Duo Molek, but also introducing a beautiful and talented newcomer, Nabila Sabhi.

"I am a producer at Wow Musikindo, releasing two talents, Nabila Sabhi and Duo Molek," said Rowman at Rendezvoo Coffee, South Jakarta, on Friday (9/5/2025).

Rowman's venture into the dangdut world is not new to him. Since 2016, he has been active behind the scenes at Wow Musikindo, although not many people know. At that time, he began to learn the ins and outs of the dangdut genre while still active in other music projects.

"Actually, I have been involved in the dangdut music genre behind the scenes since 2016 at Wow Music. At that time I had a band project, taken at Afe Records. I knew there was a dangdut genre at Wow Music, but no one was handling it," he said.

When the boss challenged him to get more involved, Rowman welcomed it enthusiastically. Although he admits he is still learning, he has no hesitation to dive directly into the recording kitchen.

"Challenged by the boss, so I tried to handle it. I'm trying while learning to be a producer. I'm still learning," he said.

1. Duo Molek

One of the projects he revived is Duo Molek. This group used to exist but went on hiatus because the old formation disbanded. Now, Rowman is bringing it back to life with two singers who complement each other, namely Ayu Octavia and Dhea Dhenance.

"Duo Molek used to exist, and we even released a single. But due to some issues, we disbanded and I kept it to myself. In 2025, I found the talent to continue Duo Molek. Ayu and Dhea are like sisters, they often hang out together," said Rowman.

Their new single titled “Kapan Kawin” immediately caught attention. This song depicts the anxieties of many women regarding the questions that often come from family or neighbors about marriage.

"From several song options, the song Kapan Kawin came to us. Everywhere we go, we get asked about weddings, and when we go back to our hometown, we get asked when we’re getting married. The lyrics fit perfectly and the song is nice. It’s really based on experience," Dhea revealed.

"Thank God the recording process went smoothly. As soon as babe Rowman gave us the fun and nice song, we practiced and it wasn't long before we recorded it, waiting for us to be ready," Ayu explained.

Meanwhile, Nabila Sabhi comes with a musical style that is equally interesting. This young singer has a characteristic soft voice and graceful appearance, which immediately made Rowman confident to produce her.

"Nabila Sabhi is a complete package. She has a beautiful voice, she's pretty, and she has a stage aura. I was immediately interested and felt I could help develop her potential," said Rowman.

Nabila also didn't expect to work with Rowman. She said this is a great opportunity for her career in the music industry, especially since the song fits her vocal character.

"When I was offered to join and was given the chance to listen to the song, I immediately liked it. The song is really good, and I'm happy to work with Mas Rowman," said Nabila.

Even though it's a different path from a rock band, Rowman feels that the dangdut world has its own challenges and colors. For him, what's important is to keep creating, regardless of the genre.

"It's the same, just different ways. If I'm in the band Ungu, I just play the drums. Here I’m involved from scratch. What's important is to create," concluded Rowman.
