Having the opportunity to meet Elvy Sukaesih at her residence in the Cawang area, East Jakarta, on Friday (10/7/2020), the singer of Gula Gula firmly stated that she will not easily hand over the title of Queen of Dangdut that she holds to other dangdut singers. Because, the title is a gift from the community that does not just roll over easily.
"We don't want to give it up, how could we? How would you feel if you were asked to give it up? We don't want it to just roll over like that. If (the community) says that you have stopped being the Queen of Dangdut, then okay. Everything is based on the judgment of the community, I am not the Queen of Dangdut, it's the people," said Elvy Sukaesih.
"I am the Queen of Dangdut, I am the best, there is no one else, it's not like that. I don't want to have any sense of arrogance (about that title)," she continued.
In addition, if she were to pass on the title to another dangdut singer, she is worried that the public would be angry with her. Moreover, as a Queen, she has not seen the potential in any young dangdut singer who is worthy of inheriting her title.
"If I am asked to hand over this Queen title, the public themselves would be angry and if I want to hand it over, it's not that simple and until now I haven't seen, not out of arrogance because being a Dangdut Queen requires sufficient summary, although not perfect, at least performance, quality, and entertainment, it seems not just anyone can do it," she said.
