If you think that gender is only female and male, you're mistaken. There is something called non-binary or genderqueer.

According to hellosehat.com, non-binary is a gender identity that depends on how someone views themselves. Regardless of their biological sex, a non-binary person does not identify as either male or female. Essentially, they do not identify with a specific gender and may even feel that they have two genders.

A non-binary individual also prefers to be referred to as 'they' instead of 'he' or 'she'. For example, instead of asking 'Where is he going?' to inquire about someone, it is better to use 'Where are they going?' for a non-binary individual. 

Several Hollywood celebrities openly identify as non-binary. Who are they? Here are 10 of them!

Through their Instagram, Demi Lovato proudly announced that they are non-binary after introspection. Demi previously also identified as pansexual, meaning they are attracted to someone regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.

In 2017, singer Sam Smith stated that they feel as much like a woman as they do a man. They also do not identify as strictly male or female and feel they exist between the two. Sam Smith only realized they were non-binary after understanding the meaning of the term.

Singer Janelle Monae once retweeted a tweet about a non-binary character from the animation Steven Universe and added the hashtag #IAmNonbinary. However, Janelle Monae did not clarify whether she chooses to use the pronoun 'they' for herself.

HUNGER GAMES star, Amandla Stenberg, identified as non-binary in a Tumblr post in 2016. Amandla doesn't always feel like a woman. They also don't force others to use 'they' as their pronoun.
