As reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday (27/11), Judge Arun Subramanian decided to deny the bail application from the famous rapper. This denial marks the third time, with the main consideration being the potential risk to the safety of witnesses.
Not only that, P Diddy also attempted to provide a bond of US$ 50 million or around Rp 3.33 trillion, backed by the equity of his house, as well as a promise to comply with security monitoring and not interfere with the investigation. The court in New York denied P Diddy's parole application, citing the potential for interference with the integrity of the legal process. The judge revealed that there is evidence showing P Diddy used his business network to influence witnesses or hide evidence in his case.
"There is evidence indicating a serious potential for witness tampering, and P Diddy contacted witnesses after they testified before the jury in June 2024," stated the judge.
The court also referenced records of violence involving P Diddy, including the use of firearms, kidnapping, and arson. Considering all these factors, the judge determined that Sean Combs' parole application was not acceptable, meaning the legal issues he faces will continue.
P Diddy is also accused of violating the prohibition on communicating with third parties. The court stated this as evidence showing that Sean Combs violated the rules set by the Bureau of Prisons during his pretrial detention.
The judge also added that Sean Combs allegedly engaged in various illegal activities, such as paying other inmates to call people he was not supposed to contact. He is also accused of asking his family and lawyer to help make three-way calls to avoid detection.
These actions are considered strong evidence that P Diddy intentionally obstructed the monitoring of his communications, demonstrating his unwillingness to comply with BOP rules. This became a compelling reason for the court to deny any possibility of parole under any circumstances.
P Diddy is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after being arrested by Homeland Security on September 16. He faces serious charges, including extortion, sex trafficking, and involvement in prostitution. Despite facing heavy legal pressure, the rapper continues to assert his innocence and has attempted to appeal several times.
