Before disappearing, Gabby was active on social media. In Youtube videos and Instagram photos, Gabbie uploaded videos and photos showing their affection while enjoying sunsets and walks on the beach.
Last August, the Utah police received a report of domestic violence. In a police recording, Gabby admitted to arguing with Laundrie due to personal issues and feeling desperate.
While speaking with the police, Gabby appeared to be crying and admitted to having mental health issues. Gabby said she slapped Laundrie during the argument but had no malicious intent. Gabby also said that Laundrie prevented her from getting into the car before calming down. The police then requested that this couple live separately for one night and there were no charges filed.
Gabby Petito's parents stated that their daughter last contacted them at the end of August. At that time, Gabby said she and Laundrie were in the Grand Teton National Park area, Wyoming. Gabby's father urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the authorities.
The last text received from Gabby by her mother raised suspicions. According to Gabby's family lawyer, Richard Stanford, the last text stated 'no signal in Yosemite'. Richard doubts that the last message was sent by Gabby.
On September 1st, Brian Laundrie was reported to have returned to his parents' home in North Port, alone without Gabby. Laundrie refuses to speak about his fiancée's whereabouts at all.
Eleven days later, Gabby was declared missing by the police. Gabby's family lawyer asked Laundrie and his family to be honest about the woman's disappearance.
On September 17th, Laundrie's parents reported to the police that they also did not know where their son was. Finally, the police started investigating the whereabouts of Gabby and Laundrie.
On September 19th, the police found a body in Teton, Wyoming, which had characteristics similar to Gabby's. Although forensic identification has not confirmed that the body is Gabby's, her family is already convinced. Meanwhile, Brian Laundrie has not been found yet.
