Bear Grey is the child of Liam and his ex-girlfriend, Cheryl, who is a member of the girl group Girls Aloud and is 10 years older than the late Liam. Bear Grey was born on March 22, 2017. Liam and Cheryl broke up in 2018.

"I always wanted to be a young dad, but I didn't expect to be in this position. I had a child at a young age, and you think it would be a magical thing if you could grow into the person you want to be," Liam said in 2018 to People magazine.

Since birth until he was 7 years old, Liam and Cheryl always kept Bear Grey's face a secret. Liam once said that Bear Grey really looks like him. Every time his family sees a photo of Liam as a child, they think it's Grey.

When he was a guest on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Liam shared why he and Cheryl named their son Bear. It turns out that when he was just born, the baby's breathing sounded like a growling bear. Concerned, Liam and Cheryl took him to the doctor. Fortunately, the doctor said it was a normal thing.

Liam also mentioned that Bear has a talent for singing to People in 2020. But the father is worried that his child will have to enter the entertainment industry at a young age. "I really love (singing / entering the entertainment world) and have been doing it for 11 years, but it takes a lot to enter this world at a very young age."

Liam also revealed that he meets Bear two or three times a week. "And I make sure that when I see him, he has my full attention. I make sure I’m not holding my phone or drinking elsewhere."

Last year in 2022, Liam described his happiness in being a father to Bear. "He needs his dad in his life. And I’m happy he sees me as if I am a superhero and I hope it stays that way."

On Bear's seventh birthday in March 2024, Liam posted a photo of Bear. Now the son has to grow up without his father. RIP Liam Payne!
