'100% Human Film Festival 2024' Will Screen 88 Films from 24 Countries, Free for the Public!

Kapanlagi.com - This year, the 100% Human Film Festival has entered its 8th edition. The event will take place from August 30 - September 8, 2024, in three major cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta.

A total of 88 films from 24 countries including Belgium, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, the UK, France, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Austria, Senegal, Mali, Argentina, Switzerland, Mexico, Italy, Slovenia, Luxembourg, South Korea, Indonesia, Austria, India, and Tunisia will be screened. For the first time, the 100% Human Film Festival will showcase films from the African continent, such as Senegal, Mali, and others.

All of the above films can be watched for free and offline in 14 screening rooms in Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta. Additionally, there will be 11 other non-film events that are open for free to the public.

"We chose Togetherness as the theme for the 8th edition of the festival because we want to embrace and invite people to come directly to the festival, to meet together, exchange ideas, and create change," said Kurnia Dwijayanto, Director of the 100% Human Film Festival at a press conference held on August 20, 2024, at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Jakarta.

1. DIY: Film Curation

The festival director and film curator from the Netherlands, Chris Belloni, will be present at this year's festival and share knowledge about film festivals and film curation, especially with the theme of humanity, through the 100% DIY: Film Curation program. Here is the schedule for the 100% DIY: Film Curation program that can be attended for free:

- Sunday, September 1 at 12:00 - 15:00 WIB at Erasmus Huis (Library), Jakarta
- Tuesday, September 3 at 14:00 - 16:00 WIB at Kineforum Theater: Asrul Sani, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta
- Friday, September 6 at 09:30 - 11:30 WIB at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Bandung

The 100% Human Film Festival often expresses its aspirations through festival ambassadors, and this time Geofanny Tambunan and Khozy Rizal have been chosen as the ambassadors for the 2024 100% Human Film Festival.

"The 100% Human Film Festival is an important event in voicing human rights in an unconventional way through film, art, books, poetry, songs, and various creative mediums that are familiar to me as an artist and also a general audience," said Geofanny Tambunan, artist and Ambassador of the 100% Human Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Khozy Rizal was also selected as an Ambassador of the Festival because he often produces films that 'touch' the sense of humanity in Indonesia. "I feel proud to be chosen as a festival ambassador because I see that the 100% Human Film Festival consistently screens Indonesian short films that bravely raise sensitive or unconventional human stories, in inclusive and safe space screening environments," said Khozy Rizal, a short film director from Makassar whose work was selected to compete representing Indonesia for the first time in the official competition category at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

2. Collaboration with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)

In addition to feature films, the 100% Human Film Festival 2024 also showcases a compilation of short films submitted from all over Indonesia. Submissions were open from May 1 to June 30, 2024, attracting participation from various cities, including Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Makassar.

Out of a total of 160 submitted films, 50 short films were selected to be screened during the festival. These films come from various prestigious universities in Indonesia, presenting works that highlight humanitarian themes from fresh and bold perspectives.

This year, the 100% Human Film Festival partnered with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the first time. During the festival, the KPK Kuningan Persada building or Anti Corruption Learning Centre (ACLC) will serve as one of the screening venues as well as host non-film events.

Three winning short films from ACCFEST have also been selected for this year's festival. One of the events, 100% Exhibition: MERIUNG MERIANG by Alam Taslim, tells the story of the 9-year journey of the noodle monster IGOR Satu Mangkok, which thrives on a sense of togetherness and safe gathering places, similar to what the 100% Human Film Festival 2024 aims to achieve, will also be held at the KPK ACLC building.

3. Collective Art Exhibition from Bali

The 100% Exhibition 2024 will also be enlivened by a collective art exhibition from Bali titled EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, HUMANITY. This exhibition, which is part of the series of art actions titled STIGMA at the 100% Human Film Festival, is curated by Geofanny Tambunan and Skinny Ohrami, in collaboration with several artists from Jakarta, and can be seen at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura during the festival.

- Saturday, August 31 at 14:00 WIB at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Jakarta
- Sunday, September 1 at 16:00 WIB at the KPK Kuningan Persada Auditorium

The 100% Human Film Festival 2024 in Jakarta will take place from August 30 to September 8, 2024, at IFI Thamrin, Goethe-Institut Indonesien, Istituto Italiano di Cultura Jakarta, Erasmus Huis, the Austrian Embassy auditorium, KPK Kuningan Persada (ACLC), and Kineforum Asrul Sani Cikini, Jakarta. The 100% Human Film Festival 2024 will also be held at IFI Yogyakarta and IFI Bandung on the same dates for free.

Screening tickets can be obtained for free by going directly to the film screening venue, one hour before the screening.
