As a newcomer to Indonesian horror comedy films, AGAK LAEN must be at the top of the list. Featuring comedians such as Boris Bokir, Bene Dion Rajagukguk, Indra Jegel, and Oki Rengga, this horror film successfully tickles the audience's funny bone.

This film tells the story of four people who are in charge of a haunted house in the night market. They are renovating the haunted house to attract more visitors, as it was previously unappealing to the public. After the renovation, many visitors enter their haunted house. However, a tragedy occurs when one of the visitors, who has a history of heart disease, dies after entering the terrifying attraction. They then bury the body inside the haunted house, making the atmosphere inside it even more eerie and creepy.

2. HANGOUT (2016)

Directed by Raditya Dika, this film successfully turns tense atmosphere into a joke in an instant. This time, it's not about meeting scary ghosts, but about the mystery when public figures visit a villa on a remote island through a mysterious invitation.

However, their fate drastically changes when one by one they are killed with a plan by Toni P. Sancalu. They try to guess who is behind these planned serial murders. The film features famous characters like Soleh Solihun, Surya Saputra, Prilly Latuconsina, Gading Marten, Dinda Kanya, Titi Kamal, Mathias Muncus, and Bayu Skak, which make the audience feel various emotions.

3. DREAM SCENARIO (2023)

Entering the horror comedy genre from abroad, there's DREAM SCENARIO. If we consider this genre, it's not really a horror film but more of a fantasy comedy. But what if every time we sleep and dream about a scary scene, there's a person who always appears in it? It feels like being haunted in every dream.

This story is about Paul Matthews, played by Nicholas Cage, who is an unpopular teacher and often ignored by his students. Somehow, Paul always appears in everyone's dreams, whether as a killer, a rapist, or even something scarier. It's weird and scary to have someone always present in our dreams without expectation. Paul doesn't know how he can appear in people's dreams, which makes him famous and even feared. Nicholas Cage's portrayal of Paul is truly hilarious and entertaining.

4. ZOMBIELAND (2009)

The title of the film, if related to 'zombie', must involve a chase with humans who have been infected by a virus, turning them into cannibals and losing their minds, or can be called monsters. This time, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin have to survive to stay alive from the attacks of the zombies.

The funny actions of the cast and the civilians running away from the attacks of these zombie monsters make this film not feel like a horror movie. They have to escape from a city that has been infected by a zombie outbreak from mad cow disease. So, what is the ending like? Do they survive?

5. THE MENU (2022)

This last one is still from a Hollywood film, from the title it only gives the impression of a food menu. But who would have thought that starting from a food menu, they became the target of the cruel Chef Slowik. This film received a rating of 7.2/10 on IMDb, and the genre displayed is horror comedy. However, actually after watching this film, there is almost no comedy element that really stands out. Instead, it is a mind-blowing horror thriller that makes us think after watching this film.

It tells the story of a couple named Tyler and Margot who are visiting a restaurant with a famous chef named Julian Slowik on a remote island. A fine dining experience that turns into something terrifying, resulting in almost all the restaurant's visitors dying except for Margot. The story is mind-blowing, making the audience shake their heads in disbelief and be shocked at every unpredictable murder scene. Many theories are scattered after watching this film.
