Acha Septriasa's Exciting Story Acting with a Dog in the Film 'JUNE & KOPI', Admits Initially Rejecting the Offer

Kapanlagi.com - Acha Septriasa is involved in a family drama film titled JUNE & KOPI which features two dogs as the main characters. When first offered to be involved by the producer and director, she admitted to initially rejecting it.

Acha felt strange to be trusted because she is not a dog lover. However, because she was constantly convinced, she finally agreed to contribute to the film by Noviandra Santosa, which will be available on Netflix starting from January 28th.

"Initially, I didn't even think of taking this film offer. I thought, let others who are really dog lovers do it. But it turned out that I was being waited for from December 2018 to February 2019. I was convinced, asked to return to Indonesia from Australia to play this character," said Acha to Kapanlagi.com in a virtual press conference on Monday (25/1/2021).

As a Muslim, it is taught that humans should not come into contact with dog saliva as it is considered impure. However, here Acha Septriasa is faced with a film character who understands its limitations.

"Even though I am a Muslim and there is a teaching that prohibits contact with dog saliva, during filming I felt an extraordinary amount of love from these living creatures. They taught me sincerity in such a clever way," said Acha.

"For 2 full months, they maintained their behavior around us. Like June (the dog playing June), she doesn't like licking, she just opens her mouth. Then there's Suki (the substitute for June), who likes to cling to me as a sign of affection and runs around me. I have no problem with them," she continued.

2. Love Brings Acha Closer to Dogs

During two months of interaction, Acha Septriasa felt that June and Suki, as film animals, were very sensitive to her. This has an impact now that Acha is in Australia, where there are many dog lovers.

"They (June and Suki) know my gestures when I am uncomfortable. During filming, they were trained not to lick. My love and affection for them as living creatures have not diminished. And as partners in this film, I love them. Now, living in Australia, there are many dogs around me, and they are not hesitant or afraid to approach me because they know I love dogs. Now I'm even like a dog lover," concluded Acha.
