Australian Indonesian Film Festival 2024 to be Held in 10 Cities, Free of Charge!

Kapanlagi.com - This year, the Australian Indonesian Film Festival (AIFF) will once again be held in its 19th edition, precisely from May 31 to June 23, 2024. This year's festival will showcase Australian and Indonesian films to audiences in ten cities across Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Padang, Surabaya, Mataram, Makassar, Manado, Samarinda, and Balikpapan.

This is also a special moment as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and Indonesia.

"This year, Australia and Indonesia commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations, and film is a medium that has a great influence in creating connections and promoting understanding between the two countries," said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Penny Williams PSM.

"I am pleased that AIFF 2024 will showcase the impressive skills and creativity of the Australian and Indonesian film industries to audiences across Indonesia," she added.

1. There is a Class from Australian Experts

This festival will be opened with the premiere of BLUEBACK in Indonesia, a Western Australian film that tells a universal story about friendship, family, and community. Followed by the film PETUALANGAN SHERINA 2 produced by Indonesian filmmaker and Australian alumnus, Mira Lesmana, which will also enliven FSAI this year.

Film enthusiasts and students in Indonesia can sharpen their creative energy by participating in a masterclass held with experts from Australia who will discuss cinematic storytelling, film production, film archiving, and planetarium film making.

The screening of planetarium films with a full dome from Deakin University, The Earth Above, will provide insights into the innovative techniques and technologies behind this fascinating project.

"Australia is also proud to provide opportunities for Indonesian filmmakers to participate in a new short course in Australia that we are launching, which will focus on film production. This is expected to further enhance cooperation among our creative sectors and encourage collaboration in the future," said Williams.
