Empowered Reasoning Special Edition April 2024: 'Is School Still Important?'

Kapanlagi.com - MudaBerdaya together with SMAN 34 Jakarta held an event called Empowered Reasoning, which is a roadshow program about the narrative of reasoning, first logic, and first thinking in Indonesia. This time, Empowered Reasoning presents a special edition that invites several young content creators such as Cania Citta, Esther Lubis, Bro Gamal, and Jebung.

The four narrators challenged the students of SMAN 34 Jakarta to think critically during the event. The event was opened with a speech from Mrs. Dwi, the Principal of SMAN 34 Jakarta, who expressed her hope that the event could motivate students to become empowered youth with strong reasoning and logic.

Esther Lubis, a TikTok content creator and a law graduate from Gadjah Mada University, started the session with a presentation titled 'Dreams and Future'. In front of an audience consisting of more than 100 high school students, Esther highlighted the importance of the high school period as a foundation for planning and realizing future dreams.

"If you don't pursue these dreams, then we will end up helping others achieve their dreams," said Esther, motivating students to take control of their own future.

1. Participants are challenged to think critically

Cania Citta, known as a figure in contemporary education, continued the interactive session by challenging students to consider the relevance of education today.

"What is the importance of school today?" Cania asked.

Of course, this question sparked discussions and debates among the participants. Cania Citta's session successfully made students think critically about their educational goals.

Bro Gamal, a popular YouTuber among young people, discussed the reality of pursuing dreams, especially in choosing education and career paths. According to him, the one constant aspiration for someone is the desire to become wealthy. Other aspirations will change over time.

Bro Gamal also shared his experience of how sometimes the initial expectations in determining aspirations differ from the final outcomes.

2. Closing Event

The fourth session was filled by Jebung, who is famous for his podcast 'Cape Mikir with Jebung'. Jebung shared about his personal journey full of challenges during high school, which eventually led him to find a 'safe space' through his circle of friends. Jebung emphasized the importance of having a space where individuals can 'speak up' and express their feelings without fear. Everyone has the right and needs a safe space that supports their emotional growth and mental well-being.

The closing event, Dialectic Space Session, was started by Stevie Thomas, the founder of MudaBerdaya, who discussed various important issues faced by young people today, including dreams and the future, consistency in achieving goals, building effective support systems, and problems that often occur in young people such as unproductive addiction. This closing session was enthusiastically welcomed by the participants with many questions raised, which have been their concerns.

This Special Empowered Reasoning Event was successfully held with the participation of more than 100 participants. MudaBerdaya hopes that this program can become a movement that can sharpen critical thinking skills and mental readiness in facing challenges and concerns of young people in Indonesia.
