Extended Version of 'HUMAN EARTH' Welcomes Eid 2026

As we approach Eid 2026, Falcon Pictures presents a surprise for lovers of Indonesian film and literature. After successfully adapting the legendary novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer to the big screen, the story of HUMAN EARTH is now available in a more complete and in-depth format titled Human Earth Extended. This latest version will officially premiere exclusively on the OTT platform KlikFilm.

In a serial format, the stories of Minke, Annelies, and Nyai Ontosoroh are developed more deeply. Scenes that were previously absent in the big screen version now have space. The dialogues feel more subtle, while the socio-political layers that are the essence of the story are presented more clearly and contemplatively.

The arrival of this extended version is part of the celebration of a century of Pramoedya. This series will air in six parts and will accompany viewers twice a week, every Monday and Thursday, with the premiere episode on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

"This release is in celebration of a century of Pram. We believe that a work as significant as Bumi Manusia has a soul that cannot be conveyed in just one format. This extended version provides a broader contemplative space for the audience to delve into Pramoedya's thoughts. Ahead of Eid, we want to present a spectacle that is not only entertaining but also enriches the soul," said Frederica when met at the Falcon Pictures office, Duren Tiga, South Jakarta, Wednesday (4/3).

Director Hanung Bramantyo described this project as an opportunity to present a more comprehensive vision. From the beginning, he realized that the universe of Bumi Manusia is so vast and complex that it requires a more spacious narrative to be told.

"From the beginning, I realized that Bumi Manusia is a vast universe. In this extended version, we can present the details of relationships, struggles of identity, and the tensions of colonialism that had to be condensed before. This is not just an increase in duration, but a deepening of feeling," said Hanung.

Support also comes from Pramoedya's family. A family representative, Astuti Ananta Toer, sees this extended version as an important bridge for the younger generation to reconnect with the great ideas of the writer.

"The family sees this as an effort to keep the flame of the work alive so that it remains relevant and reaches the younger generation. Hopefully, through this serial format, more people will read the novel again and understand the great ideas about humanity, justice, and dignity," she expressed.

In general, Bumi Manusia Extended still tells the story of Minke, an educated native during the colonial era of Dutch East Indies, who falls in love with Annelies, the daughter of Nyai Ontosoroh. Amidst the romance, a portrait of legal inequality, racial discrimination, and the struggle for identity that plagued society at that time is presented.
