Fedi Nuril's Total Commitment in 'YOUR FATHER THE GOALIE', Special Training to Become a Goalkeeper Until Injury

Kapanlagi.com - Fedi Nuril stepped out of his comfort zone to portray Warto in the film YOUR FATHER THE GOALIE. Not a goalkeeper in everyday life, he underwent special training to ensure his performance as a goalkeeper on the big screen looked convincing.

"The challenge is that for my whole life, back in the day when I often played football, I was a defender. But here I am a goalkeeper. Finally, I had a coach who specifically trained me to be a goalkeeper to make it convincing, because in the story of this film Warto was once great as a local tournament goalkeeper," said Fedi.

This preparation runs parallel to the needs of the story: showcasing the figure of a former local tournament goalkeeper who is no longer in his prime. A comedic nuance also accompanies the journey of the character Warto when he returns to the goal line.

1. Special Training for the Goalkeeper Role

Fedi emphasizes that he is not a goalkeeper, so the deepening of the role starts from the technical aspects. He works with a special goalkeeper coach to capture gestures and responses that fit the needs of the scene.

"And for me, it's challenging because I've been a goalkeeper for this long. But yes, there is an element of comedy, so even though I used to be skilled, what is shown is not the same as when I was younger. In fact, now that I'm older, I'm starting to get out of breath, starting to have heart palpitations," he said.

In addition to the technique of catching the ball, the production team pushes for realistic details: Warto is depicted as a former local league goalkeeper who is now focused on supporting his child in competitions. The character's age detail and the rhythm of the game, which is no longer as spry as before, become important parts of the role deepening.

2. Promotion Through Local Matches in Gunung Sindur

To greet the public, Fedi participated in a local village football match (tarkam) at the Garam Field, Gunung Sindur, Bogor Regency, on Sunday (26/7/2026). This event became part of the promotion for Bapakmu Kiper.

He was present alongside Tanta Ginting, Augie Fantinus, and Cemen. This moment was utilized to interact with the audience while creating the atmosphere of a local match that serves as the backdrop for the film's story.

Under the crossbar, Fedi faced five penalty kicks from local players. Out of the five executions, he managed to save one.

3. Injury on Set and Fedi Nuril's Efforts to Maintain Condition

Fedi's seriousness during shooting ended in injury. He experienced a problem with his thumb when he took a hard kick from a local player who was specially recruited for the scene.

"In my case, my thumb got sprained because I was holding back King Polo's kick. Even though I was wearing gloves and he kicked from outside the penalty box. I caught it, I deflected it, and people cheered, 'Wow, Warto is amazing!', but once people turned their backs, I turned around and that’s when I started to feel pain," he said.

This statement was confirmed by Tanta Ginting, who also acted in the film. He mentioned that Fedi completed the scene despite enduring pain.

"There should be a scene later. But he didn't show his pain. But the sprain was real, behind the scenes. Warto is skilled. So even if it really hurts, Fedi Nuril is different. As soon as the camera cuts, that’s when he screams in pain," Tanta said.

On the other hand, Fedi maintains his fitness through a structured physical training program and support from a physiotherapist to keep his body in top condition for demanding scenes.

"It's very necessary. First, there’s training to be the goalkeeper, technical training, then strength training for muscle workouts to stay healthy and fit. But what annoys me is that I requested a physiotherapist, but every day my physiotherapist gets hijacked by Bang Tigor," he said while laughing.

YOUR FATHER IS A GOALIE tells the story of Warto, a former local football player who strives to mend his relationship with his son, Dino. The backdrop of village football becomes a space for family conflict and warm moments between the two.
