Film 'KROMOLEO: TEROR 1 MALAM' Releases Trailer and Poster, Highlighting Urban Legend from Central Java

Anggy Umbara revealed that his latest film offers a different experience compared to other horror films he has worked on. This time, the making process was wild and enjoyable. 

Here it's wilder. Finally, we can make a film that suits our passion. After a long time, we finally made a film where the camera is not mounted on a tripod, so it's handheld. It's really wild," said Anggy Umbara at CGV FX Sudirman, Jakarta, on Thursday (11/7/2024).

Prior to its release, this film first released its trailer and poster officially. In the 2-minute trailer, the audience is shown the appearance of Kromoleo, a group of ghosts carrying coffins, in Majenang Village, Central Java in 1994. 

This film's poster also highlights the suspenseful atmosphere that suits the film's theme. Hartawan Triguna, the film's producer, explained that Kromoleo is an urban legend known in various regions in Indonesia, especially around Mount Merapi.

"Kromoleo is a real occurrence in many places in Indonesia. If Kromoleo itself is an urban legend in the Gunung Merapi area," said Hartawan Triguna.

This film tells a chilling, long night in the village of Majenang, where Zia, who comes from the city to attend her mother's funeral, triggers the appearance of Kromoleo. Despite her grandfather's prohibition, Zia still returns to the village, and her arrival triggers terror that leads to tragic deaths for the villagers who see Kromoleo.

During her efforts to survive and uncover the mystery, Zia also begins to learn the dark history of her family, which involves bloodshed in the past.

KROMOLEO: NIGHT TERROR starring Safira Ratu Sofya, Cornelio Sunny, Abun Sungkar, Rukman Rosadi, Tyo Pakusadewo, Vonny Anggraini, Dayu Wijanto, and Aline Fauziah. This film is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 22, 2024.
