ALI AND THE QUEENS tells the story of Ali (Iqbaal Ramadhan) who goes to New York to find his mother, Mia (Marissa Anita), who has been missing from his life for a long time. This film, directed by Lucky Kuswandi, is inspired by a true story.

In Ali's memory, Mia left for New York first. Mia promised that when she succeeded, she would bring Ali to New York. That promise never came, until Ali grew up.

Until finally, Ali found out that Mia had sent him a plane ticket. However, Ali's extended family agreed to 'protect' Ali by not conveying that information to him.

With limited provisions, Ali departed for New York. However, at the address he believed to be his mother's, Ali instead encountered these four unique women.

They are Party (Nirina), Ance (Tika Panggabean), Cinta (Happy Salma), and Biyah (Asri Welas). All four of them are Indonesian women struggling to survive in the harsh city of New York.

While searching for his mother's whereabouts, Ali stays with these four 'Queens'.

Ali is also assisted by Eva (Aurora Ribero), Ance's daughter. As a child who grew up in New York, Eva certainly knows more about the ins and outs of the Big Apple city.
