The story's writer, Nuugro Agung, reveals that the idea for this film originated from a true story in his hometown in Central Java. During his research, he even discovered shocking facts about the smuggling of crows allegedly related to wealth rituals.

"This (CROW SATAY WEALTH RITUAL) has become a myth, especially in Java. Even during the research, there was news about the smuggling of crows from Sulawesi to Java," he said at a press conference in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/10).

3. The Three Companions

"There are still activities and the rituals are indeed that absurd and in a haunted place. Usually, in a creamation, the sacrifice is a human, but this time it’s a crow that is turned into satay," added Nuugro Agung.

The film CROW CREAMATION tells the story of three friends: Anto (Ardit Erwandha), Dimas (Yono Bakrie), and Indra (Benedictus Siregar), who are tired of living in hardship.

They try to take a shortcut to riches through a creamation ritual that is considered safe: selling crow meat satay to customers from another world. But their greed actually opens the door to disaster that turns their lives into chaos.

This trio once lived comfortably, debts paid off, love going smoothly, and wallets thick. But that happiness didn’t last long. The secret of their creamation begins to unravel, and the spirits that were once their customers come back to collect in a terrifying way. This film combines laughter and tension in one breath, making the audience anxious yet laughing at the same time.

Also starring Yoriko Angeline, Nunung, Arief Didu, and Firza Valaza, this film is directed by the duo Etienne Caesar and Dono Pradana. Their collaboration successfully brings a light horror atmosphere while still having a strong social bite.

"It's really fun because (working) with friends. From the first reading, the script was promising, the humor can go anywhere," said Benedictus Siregar.

"Actually, the three of us bring different problems. I have a love issue, Yono wants to help his parents, Benny got scammed by a loan shark. We hope to bring issues that are relatable to the public," he said.

Senior actress Nunung also admitted to enjoying the shooting process of this film because it offers a new experience.

"When I was offered this, it was clearly a comedy, so I just clicked right away. I learned what I needed to and I was given a lot of freedom, as long as I didn't stray from the character, being a strict mother with a poor son-in-law," she stated.

This film produced by Cahaya Pictures, supported by PK Films, Arendi, Anami Films, Laspro Media Sinema, and IFI Sinema, will be released in theaters on November 13, 2025.
