Actor Marthino Lio assures that the film JANUR IRENG will present a level of horror that far surpasses its predecessor, SEWU DINO. Returning to play a younger version of Sabdo Kuncoro, he states that this film will be "one step above" in terms of brutality and gore scenes.

According to Marthino, JANUR IRENG is not just a horror film, but also a reflection of the brutal power struggle. He even connects the story of this film with social phenomena that are relevant to the current situation.

"You could say it relates to the current situation. Where those in power smile in front but send curses behind their backs," said Marthino Lio when met at MD Place, South Jakarta, on Monday (13/10/2025).

This statement refers to the main plot of the film that tells the brutal competition between seven Trah Pitu families to become the most powerful in Java. This film will answer why Sabdo Kuncoro's grudge against the Atmojo family is so intense.

To portray the younger version of Sabdo, 8 to 10 years younger, Marthino had to undergo a physical transformation. He appeared clean-shaven and wore a wig to create the illusion of a fresher appearance.

In addition, the husband of actress Delia Husein also revealed that JANUR IRENG will be much more brutal. "It can be more brutal in the outcome between these two families," he stated.

Directed by Kimo Stamboel, Marthino admitted that he really enjoyed the shooting process. Although the scenes were heavy, Kimo managed to create a relaxed atmosphere on set.
