Oki Setiana Dewi once again demonstrates her concern for humanitarian issues. Not only through lectures, the ustazah who is also known as an actress is involved in a film with a Palestine theme titled GAZA (HAYYA 3), which will be released in theaters starting June 12, 2025.

In the film, Oki plays the role of a caregiver for orphaned children in an orphanage. She finds this character relevant to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, especially concerning the fate of children who are victims of war. Here are the details.

"Yes, alhamdulillah it is shown at a good time when everyone is celebrating the Idul Adha holiday," said Oki when met at CGV Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Sunday (6/8/2025) evening.

The film GAZA (HAYYA 3) was actually completed in 2024. However, its release was delayed due to difficulties in securing an appropriate screening schedule in theaters.

There is a reason why Oki is willing to join this project. According to him, films can be an effective medium to convey stories and facts about Palestine, especially for those who are less following international news.

"Of course not everyone understands the story about Gaza, or wants to read the history of Palestine, or maybe they remembered at some point but then forgot," he said.

"Through this film, we, I and the friends behind the scenes and in front of the screen, are trying to bring that awareness back, so that we care again about Palestine," Oki added.

As the sister of Ria Ricis, who has many followers on social media, Oki admitted that she feels sad if she just stays silent and does nothing about such a big issue. "Yes, sometimes we as people who have quite a few followers feel sad if we don't do something. If we can inspire action, why can't we do something so that others can also take action," she emphasized.

Without holding back, Oki admitted that he did not receive any payment for his involvement in the film. He sees it as a form of charity to support the struggle of the Palestinian people. "If I also do it that way, not receiving payment. Yes, we are donating in our own ways, what I do for Palestine," he expressed.

This film, according to Oki, not only presents drama but also embeds many messages of humanity and historical insights about the Palestine-Israel conflict. "Hopefully, this will be a film that many people can enjoy just like I have enjoyed making films from the past until now; one of the wishes is that the film does not merely become entertainment, but that the entertainment becomes guidance," she concluded.
