Kapanlagi.com - Baim Wong makes his debut as a feature film director with the horror film titled LEMBAYUNG. It turns out that his experience as an actor and his perfectionist nature greatly influenced the shooting process.

The forty-three-year-old man wants to do his best for the released work. Therefore, when it comes to details, he does not take it lightly, including the extras on set.

"The most stressful part is about the extras. Seeing an incredibly handsome nurse, please no. Because I am a film enthusiast, if the front looks good but the back doesn't, that's stressful. (The scene) is ruined by the background. I want it to be perfect. I don't want to take risks, (the extras) should just face the wall because you're too cool to be a nurse," Baim shared when met in the Tanah Kusir area, South Jakarta, Thursday (1/8/2024).

1. Wash Clothes Multiple Times

It's not just about being an extra on set, Baim Wong also pays attention to the details of the clothes worn by the actors. He doesn't want the clothes to look brand new, so they have to be washed multiple times to fade their original color.

"Even the clothes we have to distress. Because nowadays, when we watch films, wow, all the clothes look new. We wash them multiple times so they don't look too bright. It's that detailed. It's really tiring to arrange everything. Every page of the script must have the director's vision," said Paula Verhoeven's husband.

2. Change the Script Up to Seventy Percent

Baim Wong is someone who sticks to the script. Therefore, when he finally became the director of the film LEMBAYUNG, he changed almost seventy percent of what was written previously to make everything logical.

"I have a vision of what this film will be like. That's why (the script) was changed up to seventy percent. I'm not a fan of Indonesian horror because I don't like the typical ghosts like pocong or kuntilanak. Since this is based on a true story, when I see what the ghost looks like, everything feels reasonable. I have to think logically. When I read the script for this film, I never thought I would direct a horror film," asserted Baim Wong.
