Latest Film by Sidharta Tata, 'SAKARATUL MAUT' Brings Terrifying Jin Terror to Cinemas at Home

Kapanlagi.com - In August 2024, there is a horror film you can watch in theaters, namely SAKARATUL MAUT produced by Rapi Films in collaboration with Sky Media, Legacy Pictures, and Rhaya Flicks. This film is the second work of director Sidharta Tata, with the screenplay written by Agasyah Karim, Khalid Kasogi, and Bayu Kurnia.

SAKARATUL MAUT also features a lineup of talented actors, including Indah Permatasari, Della Dartyan, Claresta Taufan, Maryam Supraba, and Aksara Dena.

"The idea for this film comes from small things in our environment that commonly occur in the context of social spaces, especially in villages. For example, stories from the past about people who like to have 'holdings' for safety knowledge, charms, and other things that are meant to protect themselves and their families. However, these holdings can become a burden when facing death. This idea was then developed into a story that is very close to the community," explained Sidharta Tata, director of Sakaratul Maut, regarding the film's concept.

1. Synopsis of SAKARATUL MAUT

Sakaratul Maut tells the story of Pak Wiryo (Jose Rizal Manua) and Bu Wiryo (Retno Yuniwati), a respected couple in the village of Umbul Krida. Their family appears happy and well. However, a traffic accident involving them results in Bu Wiryo's death and Pak Wiryo being in a coma.

Retno (Indah Permatasari), their youngest child, postpones her departure to Surabaya to take care of her father, with the help of Wati (Della Dartyan), her sister, even though his chances of survival are very slim. Problems arise when Wati competes for the inheritance with Tarjo (Aksara Dena), her half-brother from Pak Wiryo's second marriage to Bu Giyem (Maryam Supraba).

Neighbors start to gossip about Pak Wiryo having a 'grip' that makes it difficult for him to die. One by one, they begin to experience terror from a very terrifying spirit, and Pak Wiryo himself starts to show strange symptoms in his dying condition.

2. Now Showing in Indonesian Theaters

For Indah Permatasari, this is the first time she can work with Sidharta Tata. She also shared a bit about the latest film she starred in.

"I am very happy that finally what we worked on can be watched together. This is my first experience being directed by mas Tata, and it feels really enjoyable. This film is also quite relatable for all of us, regarding sibling relationships, secrets between husband and wife, and inheritance, which we often encounter in families and certain communities. I hope this film can be an enjoyable experience for Indonesian audiences and encourage us to become better humans," Indah expressed.
