The musical film WHO IS HE is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 28, 2025, and will hold its Gala Premiere on Thursday (08/22/2025). This film tells the story of Layar (Nicholas Saputra), a director who experiences confusion over the idea for his musical film.
The screen returns to her great-grandmother's house to seek inspiration and discovers a suitcase filled with letters and love notes from the past, the love stories of her great-grandmother, grandfather, and father.
The screen delves into that story, getting swept into a melodrama about life choices and her own heart's choices.
Amanda Rawles admits she is happy to play one of the main roles in the musical film, even though she felt insecure because she has no background in dancing and singing.
WHO IS HE is the first musical film presented by Garin Film from executive producer Faizal Lubis, and produced by Fabis Entertainment. Faizal Lubis stated that WHO IS HE is intentionally presented as a special gift for the nation and the country.
"A gift for the Republic of Indonesia, for the struggle of the nation, for the children of the nation, and especially in the field of musical arts," he said proudly.
Meanwhile, Garin Nugroho as the director explained that this film is a reflection of how music and popular culture have become an inseparable part of the narrative of the Indonesian nation since the past.
"Actually, we often narrate or express our celebration of independence with songs and music," said Garin Nugroho.
A series of actors and actresses involved in SIAPA DIA include Nicholas Saputra, Monita Tahalea, Gisella Anastasia, Widi Mulia, Dira Sugandi, Ariel Tatum, Joanna Alexandra, and Amanda Rawless. These big names are a particular attraction for this film.
This Gala Premiere was also attended by Didit Prabowo, Giring Ganesha and his wife, as well as Yenny Wahid.
