The film 'RIBA' Raises Social Issues & Debt from the Viral Thread 'Getih Anak', Ready to Present Relevant Horror

A horror thread that went viral on social media, Getih Anak, is now officially adapted to the big screen with the title RIBA. This film, produced by Verona Pictures, is set to deliver a horror spectacle that is not only thrilling but also very relevant to the social issues occurring in society today, and is scheduled to premiere starting December 4, 2025.

The official poster launch and the first trailer of the film RIBA were held at Senayan Park, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (4/11/2025). This event was attended by producers, directors, and main cast members such as Ibrahim Risyad, Wafda Saifan, and Yasamin Jasem.

Executive Producer, Bedi, explained that the selection of the story Getih Anak as the basis for this film was based on its extraordinary popularity, with nearly 4 million readers.

"We take this from a quite popular thread at that time, namely Getih Anak, where the thread was viewed by almost 4 million, 4 million viewers," said Bedi when met at Senayan Park, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, (4/11/2025).

However, Bedi emphasized that the film RIBA will not only present horror elements. Within it, there are moral messages that are very close to the struggles of Indonesian society, especially regarding the trap of debt.

"In it, we convey certain values or moral messages that are very relevant to the struggles of Indonesian society today," he continued.

Meanwhile, Producer Titin Suryani added that the casting process was very difficult and took months to find actors who could truly bring complex characters to life.

"This is not easy because this is not just about the film, but we want to show that this is real and that conditions are like this so that it happens like this," explained Titin.

Director Ade Dharmastriya also agreed that the released trailer only shows a small part of the overall story. According to him, there are still many surprises and jump scare scenes waiting for the audience in the film.

"This is just a very small part. In fact, the film has many twists and many jump scares, and the psychology of the characters is also evident in the film," said Ade.

This film directed by Adhe Dharmastriya tells the story of Sugi (Ibrahim Risyad), a young father whose life is destroyed due to being entangled in debt from a ruthless moneylender. Desperation leads him to a shortcut to wealth 'Getih Anak' offered by his friend, Muji (Wafda Saifan).
