[REVIEW] 'MEKAH I'M COMING' - When Lying Hurts More Than Being Honest

Kapanlagi.com - Jeihan Angga presents his latest film titled MEKAH I'M COMING on March 5, 2020. This film, produced directly by Hanung Bramantyo, carries a very refreshing comedy drama genre.

The main cast of this film is Rizky Nazar and Michelle Ziudith. In addition, there are several other actors who also play roles in this film, such as Dwi Sasono, Ria Irawan, Totos Rasiti, Rasyid Karim, Jennifer Coopen, and debutant Ephy Pae.

Set in a small village in Central Java, this film tells the story of a man named Eddy (Rizky Nazar) who desperately tries to defend his love for Eni (Michelle Ziudith) because it is hindered by the approval of Eni's parents.

Eni herself is a village girl, the child of a respected businessman of salted eggs named Haji Soleh, and she strongly dislikes the ideal man for Eni. Soleh tries to match Eni with a wealthy descendant named Pitoyo, a prospective hajj pilgrim played by Dwi Sasono.

In a desperate situation and in order to get the approval of Eni's parents, Eddy firmly states that he will go on a hajj pilgrimage this year. After experiencing failure when visiting several hajj travel agencies, Eddy finally feels happy to find a hajj travel agency that can depart immediately.

However, unfortunately, it is not the Kaaba that he encounters, but misfortune befalls Teddy. Together with his roommate, Eddy and Fajrul, a man from Papua, also become victims of hajj travel fraud. Afraid and ashamed to return, Eddy and Fajrul finally continue their lives in the trading district of fraud victims.

As a director, Jeihan Angga tries to show a reality about the perception of the prestigious hajj title held by someone. How the title is highly regarded by the villagers.

No wonder, when Eddy decides to go on a hajj pilgrimage, the villagers flock to accompany him, and they are also happy.

However, there is one interesting thing in the film MEKAH I'M COMING. Never lie, because you will be labeled as a liar and may be judged by the villagers.

The depiction of the story in this film is also appropriate. The interaction between Eddy (Rizky Nazar) and Eni (Michelle Ziudith) as a couple is perfect, from romance, drama, melodrama, to the comedic parts that successfully make the audience laugh.

And Pityoyo (Dwi Sasono) is brilliant in this film. Without speaking, only with his body language, he is able to capture the audience's attention and focus on his character.

And Ria Irawan, successfully brings a different aura to this film. Playing as Eddy's mother, Ria is able to portray a mother figure who is very swag but also calm in facing any problems.

And the most attention-grabbing aspect is the comedy brought by this film. It is exaggerated, cheesy but fitting with the composition of this film. Almost in every scene, you will be made to laugh out loud.

So, no need to hesitate anymore to watch the movie MEKAH I'M COMING. which has started screening in cinemas throughout Indonesia starting from March 5, 2020.
