Titi Kamal's Totality in the Film 'GETIH IRENG', Reminded of the Miscarriage Moment

In this film, Titi Kamal plays the character Rina, a wife who longs for children but must face a supernatural terror that threatens her pregnancy. Delving into this role turned out to be a profound emotional challenge for the wife of Christian Sugiono.

Specifically, Titi admitted that there is one scene that is so heavy that it brought her back to a sad personal memory. She has to portray a mother who experiences a miscarriage, a reality she has faced in her own life.

"It was really heavy for me to portray Rina because what mother wouldn’t be sad if she lost her child? Surely all mothers in the world would feel that way," said Titi Kamal when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (09/10/2025).

This mother of two children recounts how she tried to rebuild the emotions for her character. The memory of losing a potential child after waiting for three years became one of the emotional sources she tapped into for the role of Rina.

"And to portray that, I tried to rebuild it with Rina's characters as well, and yes, sometimes I also connected it to my personal life. Because before my first child, I had a miscarriage," she continued. 

"So I did take those sadnesses, but I adjusted them to Rina's character," added the 43-year-old actress.

Not only emotional challenges, Titi also faced technical challenges, one of which was having to dialogue using the Wonosobo dialect. To master it, she was assisted by several acting and dialect coaches.

Besides Titi Kamal, GETIH IRENG is also starred by Darius Sinathrya and Sara Wijayanto. This film tells the story of a married couple's struggle against a deadly witchcraft that targets their bloodline and descendants.

Directed by Tommy Dewo, the film GETIH IRENG is set to spread terror across Indonesian cinemas starting October 16, 2025
