25 Years Have Passed Since the First Film Was Released, James Wan Ensures MORTAL KOMBAT Will Satisfy Fans

James Wan himself is a fan of the Mortal Kombat game. He feels that the 25-year gap since the first film is the right time to remake the Mortal Kombat film. Furthermore, Wan has noticed that many fans have expressed their desire to enjoy a new Mortal Kombat movie on the big screen.

"The fans have been very active in voicing their desire to watch a new film. As a fan of the game, I also want there to be a new version of the film. And I feel that this is the right time to work on this franchise again. The story in the game continues to evolve, unfortunately not with the story in the feature film. Together with Todd Garner, the Atomic Monster team (production house), we are excited and immediately make a new version of the film," he said in an email to KapanLagi.com.

The noticeable change in this latest MORTAL KOMBAT is seen in the more luxurious visual effects. With the technology available now, the MORTAL KOMBAT visual effects team can present Liu Kang's fire dragon moves, Kano's laser eyes, or even Sub-Zero's deadly ice convincingly.

"We worked on the film with the latest technology in filmmaking while still maintaining its fantastic taste and brutal and intense action scenes. That's what fans love. At the same time, we want to present the characters and their stories in a modern and interesting approach for the new generation of viewers. They may not be familiar with the film yet," he explained.

James, who has been playing video games for a long time, admits to having a favorite character. Although recently he played the character Black Manta in Mortal Kombat 11, he has a classic character that he always favors. 

"I always liked the old character that I used to play. It's either Liu Kang or Scorpion. One cool thing about Liu Kang is that this character is inspired by Bruce Lee. So when I play Liu Kang, my fantasy of becoming Bruce Lee comes to life," says James Wan. 

Liu Kang is shown in the trailer with his iconic costume and is able to create fire and use it as a weapon. Meanwhile, Scorpion gets special attention because of his rivalry with Sub-Zero in the trailer and some released official images.
