A Series of Interesting Things You Must Know Before Watching 'MOON KNIGHT', Marvel Studios' Latest Series

It tells the story of an ordinary man named Steven Grant whose life changes after experiencing a mysterious event and haunted by dark memories from an unknown figure. Steven eventually discovers the fact that he has a split personality that makes him have another personality named Marc Spector - a former hitman who has a connection with the Egyptian moon god.

Although it has little connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and uses a standalone story concept, it is guaranteed not to reduce the excitement of this series. 1. Not Connected to Current MCU Story

The character Moon Knight first appeared in Marvel comics in Werewolf by Night #32 in 1975 created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin. In the comic, it is told that Marc Spector, aka Steven Grant, is a former Navy and CIA agent who becomes a hitman.

This series will invite fans to explore a truly new Super Hero in the MCU. "There is no connection to the current MCU," said producer Grant Curtis. "He is a new character, and he will explore new adventures too. We think fans will really enjoy this," he added.

2. Directed by Mohamed Diab, First Arab Director for Marvel

Mohamed Diab caught the attention of Marvel Studios after his film Clash became the opening film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. Not only that, he is also known for his diverse works such as the films Cairo 678, Amira, and others that eventually led Marvel Studios to collaborate with this Egyptian director and screenwriter.

Mohamed Diab became the first Arab director to release a project with Marvel. "It feels great to be able to showcase ancient traditions and modern culture of Egypt with a new and authentic style. The depiction of Egypt is often made not as it should be," explained Diab.

3. Bringing a New Nuance to the MCU

Moon Knight showcases supernatural aspects and ancient Egyptian culture that have never been seen before in the MCU. To honor the history and mythology of Egypt presented in this series, the production team conducted in-depth research and involved Egyptian history experts to ensure accuracy in the script, characters, and setting.

Although this series was produced in Origo studio in Budapest, every detail in this series still features strong Egyptian elements, from license plates on vehicles to writings on clothing - all written in Arabic. “What the production team did with this set is very surprising. It's very important to me because it really feels like being in Egypt, even though I know this is the work of an artist who gives their best work,” said Oscar Isaac.
