1. Season 1: The Disappearance of Will, the Emergence of Eleven, and the Door to Another World

The story begins when Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) suddenly disappears while riding his bike home from his friend Mike Wheeler's (Finn Wolfhard) house. The police are busy searching, but only his mother, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), believes Will is still alive after seeing the lights in their house flicker like a communication code.

At the same time, Mike, Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) discover a mysterious girl named Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Eleven is not an ordinary child; she has telekinetic powers and has escaped from a secret laboratory run by Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine).

From here, it is revealed that Hawkins has a portal to a dark dimension called the Upside Down, the origin of the first monster known as the Demogorgon.

At the end of the season, Joyce and Jim Hopper (David Harbour) manage to bring Will back. However, Eleven disappears after using all her powers to destroy the Demogorgon.

2. Season 2: Mind Flayer Takes Over Hawkins

After confirming she is alive, Eleven hides with Hopper in a small cabin in the woods. Meanwhile, Will begins to show signs of trauma and has a mental connection with a new creature that is far more dangerous: The Mind Flayer.

The season ends with a sweet moment when Hopper legally registers Eleven under the name: Jane Hopper.

3. Season 3: Starcourt Mall, Russian Conspiracy, and the Emergence of The Flayed

Hawkins looks more modern and cheerful thanks to Starcourt Mall, a fun hangout spot in the summer. There, Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) works alongside Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) at Scoops Ahoy.

But behind the shopping center, Russia is secretly building a machine to reopen the portal to the Upside Down.

While Eleven and Mike are officially dating, a new threat emerges when Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) becomes the host for the Mind Flayer. The monster creates an army called The Flayed, which consists of Hawkins residents who are controlled and sacrificed, with their bodies even melting into parts of a large monster.

The climactic battle takes place at Starcourt Mall. Billy dies after protecting Eleven. The portal is successfully closed, but Hopper is presumed to have exploded along with the machine, although the post-credits scene gives a hint that he is still alive.

As the situation becomes more chaotic, Joyce, Will, Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and Eleven move to California.

4. Season 4: The Birth of Vecna, Death Haunts Hawkins, and the War Begins

This is the darkest and most emotional season.

In California, Eleven struggles to adapt due to losing her powers and facing bullying. In Hawkins, mysterious murders occur involving several school students, including Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien).

These murders are committed by a new figure named Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), a humanoid monster from the Upside Down who targets victims with severe psychological trauma and appears through hallucinations.

It is later revealed that Vecna is not just a monster. He is:

• Henry Creel (Raphael Luce as a child)
• The first experiment subject of Hawkins Lab, also known as One
• And the person Eleven sent to the Upside Down years ago

Additionally, we also meet a character who becomes a fan favorite: Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), the leader of the Hellfire club who ultimately meets a tragic end in a heroic scene while protecting Dustin.

This season finale is epic: Vecna manages to open four large portals, Max is nearly dead and now in a coma, and Hawkins appears to be destroyed like an apocalyptic world. At the end of the episode, the Upside Down begins to merge with the real world, a sign that the final war is near.
