The original version of Days of Thunder released in 1990 tells the story of Cole Trickle, an open-wheel racer who transitions to NASCAR after being recruited by a retired racing legend, played by Robert Duvall.

On the track, Cole fiercely competes with Rowdy Burns, played by Michael Rooker. An accident then sidelines both of them from racing, which actually strengthens their bond as friends.

The conflict continues as a new rival emerges, Russ Wheeler, played by Cary Elwes. The film also features Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, John C. Reilly, and Randy Quaid, marking a reunion for Tom Cruise with Top Gun director, the late Tony Scott, and is one of the most memorable roles in his career.

Anne Hathaway, aged 43, will play the role of the owner and engineer of the racing team. She is expected to recruit Cole Trickle to join her team.

Details of the plot are still tightly guarded by the production team. Filming is not expected to begin soon as Hathaway is currently pregnant with her third child, so production will likely proceed after she has given birth.
