Horror Film 'SICCIN 8' Brings Local Turkish Culture & Beliefs, Not Just Relying on Jump Scares

The phenomenal horror franchise from Turkey, SICCIN, is set to terrorize Indonesian cinemas once again. Through the production house Soraya Intercine Films, the eighth installment is confirmed to haunt audiences starting September 11, 2025.

Directed by Alper Mestci, this film promises a terror that not only relies on jump scares but also deep psychological tension, which has become the hallmark of this franchise.

The story of SICCIN 8 centers around a family that was initially harmonious. Fatih (Fatih Gulnar) lives happily with his wife, Berna (Melike Balcik), their two daughters, and his elderly mother, Gonul (Gonul Urer).

However, the warmth of the family began to crack after a tragic incident befell their youngest daughter, Ela. This event made Fatih and Berna worry that their mother's deteriorating memory would endanger their children.

With a heavy heart, Fatih decided to place Gonul in a nursing home. Who would have thought that the decision expected to bring peace would instead become the gateway to unimaginable nightmares.

Their once peaceful home suddenly turned into a den of terror. Feeling guilty, Fatih brought his mother back. However, the Gonul who returned was not the person they once knew. Her behavior changed drastically, and a series of supernatural events began to haunt the family.

For viewers who are new to this, there's no need to worry. Siccin 8 is designed as a work that can be enjoyed independently without having to watch the previous seven films. So, everyone can immediately experience its horror.

Like the previous series, this film again raises elements of Turkish local culture and beliefs, such as black magic, jinn, and curses. This is what makes Siccin's horror feel so authentic and different from Western horror films in general.

The good news is that Soraya Intercine Films is not only bringing this film to Indonesia. They have also obtained an official license to remake the Siccin franchise in the Indonesian version, which is currently in the preparation stage.
