Comedian Rony Imanuel, better known as Mongol Stres, made a shocking confession regarding his involvement in his latest film, GEREJA SETAN.

He revealed that the film, which highlights the dark story of his past as a former follower of a satanic cult, has become the project with the lowest pay throughout his career in the film industry. Here are the details.

This film, directed by Daniel Tito Pakpahan, is scheduled to be released in theaters across Indonesia starting September 11, 2025. In this film, Mongol not only acts but also shares his personal experience of having fallen into a misguided belief.

Although known as one of the most expensive comedians in Indonesia, Mongol emphasizes that his decision to get involved in this film is not based on financial considerations. He admits that he prioritizes the moral message and the value of repentance that he wants to convey to the wider community.

"Out of 41 films, this is the one that paid the least. What I'm looking for is not money. If it were about money, I’d rather do stand-up, just 15 minutes, and Rp 150 million would go into my account. I'm the most expensive comedian in Indonesia. Why would I spend all day filming?" said Mongol Stres at XXI Epicentrum, recently.

The film GEREJA SETAN is inspired by various testimonies from former followers of a satanic sect, including Mongol's personal experiences.[3] The story of this film centers around the character Ribka (played by Kathlen Carolyen), a young woman who is pregnant out of wedlock and is left alone after the death of her lover.
