Kapanlagi.com - Millie Bobby Brown invites you to solve the mystery with her in the latest film, ENOLA HOLMES. She portrays the character of Enola, the younger sister of the legendary English detective, Sherlock Holmes (played by Henry Cavill). She and Sherlock are searching for their mother, Eudoria (played by Helena Bonham Carter), who suddenly disappears. Despite always accompanying Enola in a house on the outskirts of London.

The character of Enola is adapted from a novel by Nancy Springer, which is now visualized in film by director Harry Bradbeer (previously worked on the TV series, KILLING EVE) in collaboration with Netflix. Harry brought in British actors to perfect his work, including Millie Bobby Brown, Helena Bonham Carter, Henry Cavill, Sam Claflin, and young actor Louis Partridge.

For Millie, ENOLA HOLMES is her opportunity to showcase her British accent, as she is known for playing Eleven in the STRANGER THINGS series. Even in GODZILLA: KING OF MONSTERS, she was cast as an American girl.

"I have never played a British role before, only had a few small roles in TV series. This is my chance to shine with my British accent."

When I played Eleven in STRANGER THINGS, not much was said. In the two GODZILLA movies, I portrayed a character with a very strong American accent. As Enola, it was very enjoyable but also different from previous roles," she explained in a Zoom interview session with Kapanlagi.

Millie has high hopes for ENOLA HOLMES because she is not only acting in front of the camera but also sitting in the producer's chair. At the age of 16, Millie already has a vision that being a producer is a great opportunity for her and young filmmakers.

"In this industry, there aren't many young filmmakers involved, so being part of this film is a good start in my opinion. Not many young filmmakers can have an opportunity like this. Besides adding to my experience, I also want to help filmmakers and be involved in the production side of a film. This becomes like my hidden passion," she said.

During the film production, Millie admitted to learning a lot about motivation and inspiration. One of them she obtained from fellow producer, Ali Mendes. She mentioned that during production, Ali could come to the location with enthusiasm, while taking care of her child, and work very well.

1. ENOLA HOLMES Inserts Something for the Audience

Besides expectations from the production side, Millie believes that ENOLA HOLMES has something that can be taken away by the audience. Among the many unique details included in the film, one that she finds interesting is about Enola's independence.

In one particular fight scene, for example, Enola has to battle against an older man. Instead of being saved by someone else, Enola fights in her own way, even though it's certainly not easy.

"We often see movies with scenes where men save women. I think we can get bored of that continuously. We need something new. I like that Enola can save herself with her physical strength even when in danger. This is something that I often discussed with Harry Bradbeer throughout the film production," she enthusiastically emphasized.

2. Millie Wants Enola to be an Inspiration for Young Girls

Millie also sees ENOLA HOLMES as a great opportunity to present a new beloved character for young viewers, especially teenage girls. Reflecting on her own growth, Millie observes that there aren't many female protagonists from England who captivate her.

"There is no character like Enola. There hasn't been a British female protagonist like Enola that I admired while growing up. If there was any inspiration, it came from Hannah Montana, you know she's from America," she shared.

She also mentioned another well-known character, Hermione Granger from the HARRY POTTER franchise. "There is Hermione Granger, but she is not the main character," she added.

The need for a young British character to be the main protagonist was fulfilled when Millie read the Enola novel a few years ago. "Reading this book, I am sure many young girls will love it like I do. Anyone can watch this and enjoy the story," she confidently stated.

And now, the character she hoped for has come to life in the film adaptation. She herself plays the role.
