Because at that time, this action was considered inappropriate as Colin was an eligible bachelor, helping single women find husbands.

In this third season, Eloise will befriend Cressida Cowper after spending time together in the countryside. The character of Cressida Cowper in the series is not as mean as in the book. However, Cressida still has an annoying and often bothersome character towards Penelope.
