Teaser 'PERCY JACKSON And THE OLYMPIANS' Release, Is Annabeth's Cast Not Suitable According to the Original Version?

Percy Jackson returns in the form of a series titled PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS. The film, adapted from the novel by Rick Riordan, continues to receive tremendous attention from loyal fans of the PERCY JACKSON novel. The teaser, released on Tuesday (19/9/2023), has received positive responses from fans who say that this series is more promising than the film version released in 2010.

The story portrayed in this series is not much different from the book version written by Rick Riordan. PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS tells the story of a 12-year-old boy who turns out to be a half-human, half-god. Percy Jackson has just received supernatural powers that he discovered when the sky god Zeus accused him of stealing his lightning. Now Percy must travel across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.

PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS will exclusively air on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. The anticipation for the release of this adaptation series is so high that the teaser video has reached up to 3.5 million views. Unlike the previous film PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF, the cast in this series appears much younger. 1. Child Cast

The series PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS will feature many child actors who are veterans in their field. The actor playing Percy Jackson himself is 14-year-old Walker Scobell. The novel's author, Rick Riordan, believes that Walker is perfect for the role of Percy, especially since Walker is also a big fan of Rick's novels. 

Similar to the previous films, Percy Jackson is part of a trio that will accompany him during his missions. Aryan Simhadri, a child actor of Indian descent, will play the half-goat or satyr character, Grover Underwood. Additionally, Leah Jeffries will portray Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena.

Other cast members will play gods in the series. These include Lin Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, Jay Duplass as Hades, Adam Copeland as Ares, and the late Land Reddick as Zeus.

2. There Will Be 5 Seasons

Each season of PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS is expected to depict events from one novel. Therefore, it is estimated that this series will be presented in five different seasons to portray the story of each novel series. As reported by ScreenRant, Riordan previously expressed his hope that this new series can reach a total of 5 seasons.

The first season of this series will consist of 8 episodes, and the number of episodes for the following seasons is likely to be the same. Disney+ will release the first 2 episodes, followed by a new episode every week. 

3. Different Cast for Annabeth Compared to the Novel

Percy Jackson novel fans must already be familiar with the visual of Percy's girlfriend, Annabeth. She is a beautiful blonde-haired girl with fair skin and tall stature.

Just like the movie THE LITTLE MERMAID, Disney+ once again chose a main cast who is very contrasting with the original story. Leah Jeffries was directly entrusted by the author, Rick, to portray Annabeth.

In his personal blog, Rick wrote, "It's clear, as the author, I am looking for the best cast to bring to life and embody the personality of each character. Physical appearance is not the main thing for me. We spent a year thoroughly going through this process and looking for the best of the best."

Leah is considered the most suitable to portray Annabeth regardless of her different physical appearance from the novel. This beautiful actress also feels proud to be able to inspire other black-skinned friends.
