5 Things That Can Get a Trainee Expelled from an Agency

Kapanlagi.com - Before debuting as a K-POP idol, talented young individuals who want to pursue a career in the Korean entertainment industry usually have to go through a trainee period. Not much different from the rules for idols, trainees also have to abide by several rules set by the agency.

However, strict rules sometimes force some trainees to be expelled from the agency before their debut. This includes committing the following violations.

1. Daily Weight Less Than Ideal

When it comes to weight, trainees are required to follow this rule. In an episode of Idol Drama Operation Team, SONAMOO member D.ana mentioned that during her trainee period, she was required to lose weight every day.

If not, she only had two choices, either stay at the agency until the weight target is achieved but cannot go home first. Or, go home, and never be able to return to the agency again.

2. Missing Lessons

In addition to maintaining an ideal weight, trainees are also required to undergo various training. Often, the schedules they receive are very packed, which sometimes makes them tired and skip classes for a while.

However, skipping lessons or training for just a few hours can result in trainees being expelled from the agency. This was also experienced by Seolhyun AOA who was expelled from the agency during her trainee period for skipping vocal and dance lessons.

3. Caught in a Scandal

In general, trainees are expected to have good personality and ethics. However, because most trainees are teenagers who are in their puberty stage and full of curiosity, many of them get caught in scandals.

Take Yoon Seobin, for example, who participated in the survival show Produce 101. He was forced to leave the show, as well as his agency, JYP Entertainment, because he had smoked and consumed alcoholic beverages during his trainee period.

4. Unable to Compete with Other Trainees

There are always super talented trainees in every training or lesson, such as vocal, acting, or dancing. If there are other trainees who cannot catch up or match them, usually the agency will not extend their contract.

In other words, the less talented trainee will be expelled from the agency. One of the agencies that is very strict about this rule is SM Entertainment.

5. Failed to Make it into the Debut Line-Up

Before officially debuting, some talented trainees are usually selected through strict selection process to be included in the debut line-up. If they are not chosen, they will continue their trainee period, or they may be immediately expelled by their agency.
