Chronology of the Ju Haknyeon Scandal, Formerly of THE BOYZ, Involving a Former AV Star: Is He Really Involved in Prostitution?

Ju Haknyeon began to gain widespread recognition after appearing on Produce 101 Season 2 (2017), ranking 19th and winning the sympathy of many viewers thanks to his charm and talent. 

THE BOYZ officially debuted on December 6, 2017. This debut was met with enthusiasm. Many fans felt that Haknyeon's voice and performance deserved a bigger stage.

On June 17, 2025, One Hundred Label announced that Ju Haknyeon would 'suspend all activities temporarily due to personal issues,' without providing further details.

This news left fans anxious, questioning whether the hiatus was due to illness, family issues, or something else, and many blamed the agency for a lack of transparency.

One day later (June 18), One Hundred Label issued a firm statement: Ju Haknyeon's contract was terminated and he was officially removed from THE BOYZ 'due to intolerable behavior', in order to protect the integrity of the group.

The agency referred to a report by the Japanese magazine Shukan Bunshun which highlighted Haknyeon's meeting with former Japanese AV star Asuka Kirara in Roppongi, Tokyo, at the end of May 2025. They were reported to have spent the night together, drinking late into the night, and appeared very affectionate. The agency has already discussed this with Haknyeon, and it was confirmed by him.

Korean media Tenasia reported that Haknyeon allegedly paid Asuka Kirara for 'special services' during the meeting, and several sources mentioned that a former producer from the agency was also present.

Netizens speculate that the producer mentioned is MC Mong, who the day before (June 13) was also announced to be leaving One Hundred Label due to 'personal issues'.

On the night of June 18, eight members of THE BOYZ (Eric, Sunwoo, Kevin, Juyeon, New, Q, Younghoon, and Hyunjae) posted an apology on the fan chat platform, expressing regret over the incident and promising to support each other and keep the fans' hearts in mind.

On June 19, Ju Haknyeon posted a handwritten letter on Instagram Story. He acknowledged being present at the meeting at the end of May, apologized for worrying the fans, but emphasized that he was not involved in prostitution or any illegal activities.
